Your Design - Our Client's Images

Thanks to the empowerment of the Internet and the evolution of high quality digital printing, it is now possible and affordable for organizations to create professional-looking custom calendars using their own photos.

Our customers are mostly businesses, government and not for profit groups. They use custom calendars as business gifts, for promotion or publicity, and for fundraising. They have their own photographs and a willingness to create their custom calendar themselves using our online templates and calendar assembly wizard.

Although we already have a number of customizable calendar templates, our clients are pushing us for new and innovative designs. That's where you come in! If you have an interesting design for a custom calendar template, we want to hear from you!

Calendar designs can be submitted using our secure online wizard. Once a design is selected and programmed it is added to our calendar template gallery and you're set up to start earning royalty income. We pay a design royalty of US$0.10 per calendar, up to a maximum of $250 per calendar order. At any time you can log in to your account to view the royalties your design has earned. Calendar Design Royalties are paid out in full on February 15th each year. Click here to see examples of how Design Royalties are calculated.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's):

How does the online calendar assembly process work?

  1. Using our custom calendar assembly tool, a User uploads their photos and logo to their password-protected secure library.
  2. They select a calendar design template.
  3. They select the holidays they want included in their custom calendar they add any additional date square information which is to appear.
  4. They insert their logo and/or contact information so that it appears in every month.
  5. They drag and drop each image into the month (or cover) they want it to appear.
  6. They preview their custom calendar and complete the ordering process.

Are all the designs that are submitted posted on your website for customers to use?

No. Although we are thrilled to have the opportunity to view all designs, only those that we feel would complement and enhance our current selection of custom calendar templates are added.

What is your usage guarantee?

We promise that your images are for the specific purpose of producing a custom calendar by our customers through www.custombuiltcalendars.com. Further, you have the opportunity to include special requests, such as term of usage, etc. in the "Comments" section of the submission form. If your images are chosen, all conditions will be discussed and agreed before images are available on www.custombuiltcalendars.com.

How long does the calendar template selection process take?

We respond with a decision to all submissions. A decision on designs uploaded from January to March will be made in May. You can expect a response to submissions made from April to June within six weeks and submissions made after June 30th will be held and considered for the following year.

What steps do you take to ensure my designs don't show up all over the internet without me getting paid?

Your concerns and our concerns in this regard are in alignment. To grow our business we need not only outstanding designs, but more importantly the trust of the design community if we are to continually enhance our calendar template gallery.

Do you require that any designs I submit be exclusive to you?

Yes we do, at least from an online calendar template gallery perspective. But please don't hesitate to contact us if this is a problem. We're certainly willing to listen to the situation and make exceptions where the circumstances warrant it.

Why is there a $250 cap on the design royalty that can be earned on any single order from a customer?

Like most other businesses, ours is a competitive one. For small orders, a design royalty of $0.10 per calendar is a relatively minor cost that can be justified to clients because of the high quality of the custom calendar templates we offer. But for a large order, $0.10 is a huge added cost that would simply make us uncompetitive. Our cap of US$250 per order is intended to fairly compensate you, the designer, while at the same time allowing us to be competitive.

What, specifically, do you require regarding submissions?

Initial design submissions should be made as jpg or tif images of a single calendar month. If appropriate, you can submit multiple images in a single submission (assuming they are related). Our online submission wizard can accept files up to 20MB.

What sort of designs are your customer's looking for?

Our Users are businesses, government and not for profit organizations, so we don't want a design for Grandma's 80th birthday. Calendar designs that can be adopted by a wide range of organizations are ideal, of course, as are designs targeted to specific industries (e.g. real estate agents, accountants/financial planners/insurance/mortgage brokers, etc).

Many Users have high resolution photos and are looking for a design that is pleasing to the eye.

Other Users, in particular not for profit groups, tend to have a huge number of photos, many of which are of insufficient resolution to print clearly in a large calendar. These organisations need a template that can accommodate more than one picture per month. Click here for an example.
